Freshman Shot 3 Times at Va. College

RICHMOND, Va.

A freshman at Virginia Union University (VUU) was shot three times in the leg on campus grounds on Aug. 30, according to nbc12.com.

Jimar Jewell, 21, allegedly shot the victim around 1 a.m. near Newman Hall. Shortly after the shooting, police arrested Jewell on a traffic stop, where they discovered the weapon they believe was used in the shooting.

Police have charged Jewell, the nephew of a councilman in the Richmond area, with malicious wounding and use of a firearm.

Investigators are currently looking for a motive in the incident. According to the news report, the victim, whose name is unknown, told police that he doesn’t know who shot him.
