French School Shooter Killed By Police

TOULOUSE, France — On Thursday morning, a suspect in an attack on a Jewish school was shot in the head as he opened fire on police.

Mohammed Merah emerged from a bathroom in his apartment where he was engaged in a standoff with police and fired 30 shots, CNN reports. He then jumped out a window onto a balcony while still firing, and was then found dead on the ground. The standoff lasted 31 hours.

Merah was wanted in the killings of three French paratroopers, a rabbi and three children. Police discovered video recordings of the attacks, ammunition and ingredients for explosives after Merah was killed.
