Frat Party Violence Results in Hospitalization, Arrests

KINGSTON, R.I. — Several students and party-goers were arrested and at least one student was taken to the South County Hospital after a fraternity party at the University of Rhode Island turned violent on Thursday.

Fights broke out at the Zeta Beta Tau fraternity, and scuffles involving as many 150 or 200 people occurred in the area, the Narragansett Patch reports. South Kingstown Police were called in to assist URI and State Police troopers.

EMS units were summoned from Charlestown, Exeter, South Kingstown and the Kingston Fire Station to assist. The exact number of injuries was unclear; several students were treated and released at the scene, including two who had been pepper sprayed by URI Police.
