Former Purdue student Code Cousins has pled guilty to murdering 21-year-old teaching assistant Andrew Boldt.
Cousins, 24, admitted on Thursday to shooting and then stabbing Boldt to death in January. He said it was his intent to murder the victim, however, he did not talk about his motive, according to JConline.
The attack occurred in a basement classroom of the school’s electrical engineering building. Afterward, Cousins surrendered without incident.
Cousins’ attorney has reserved the right for his client to claim mental health issues during his sentencing, which is scheduled for mid-September. Thursday’s guilty plea eliminates the possibility that Cousins will be found not guilty by reason of insanity.
