PLANO, Texas – A former Plano Independent School District security manager pleaded guilty Tuesday to embezzling an estimated $2.5 million from the district.

An audit revealed that Kris Gentz, 59, stole money by filing false invoices for repairs for fire and security systems that was never done, WFAA.com reported.

Authorities said Gentz, a former Frisco police officer, along with two accomplices, created two dummy companies that billed the district with fraudulent invoices and mailed themselves the money, which was split evenly. The ruse went on for nearly 10 years.

One of his co-conspirators is now dead, while the other has not been arrested.
