A black woman who formerly attended Kean University in New Jersey was arrested Dec. 1 after posting threats against fellow black students in an apparent attempt to heighten racial tensions on campus.
Kayla-Simone McKelvey, 24, was charged with creating a false public alarm and is scheduled to be in court later this month after police discovered she made the threats, according to Fox News.

McKelvey had been participating in protests on campus with black students on Nov. 17 when police say she went to a library computer and posted anonymous messages threatening blacks on campus. Investigators say McKelvey then returned to the scene of the protests and told the crowd about the threats to rally them.
The threats forced the school to increase security and a group of black ministers called for Keane University President Dawood Farahi to resign because they said he hadn’t done enough to quell racial tensions.
The college released a statement saying officials were saddened by the revelations and hoped they would “bring a sense of relief and security to the campus community.”

Keane is known to have a diverse student population. Twenty percent of last year’s freshman class was black.
