Former School Safety Chief Sues Pittsburgh District for Discrimination
PITTSBURGH — The former safety chief for the Pittsburgh Public School District (PPSD) has filed a federal lawsuit against the district, citing age and disability discrimination.
PPSD officials terminated Robert Fadzen, who worked for the district from 1994 until August 2012, for what they claim was an improper traffic stop, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. However, Fadzen claims PPSD fired him because officials wanted to hire a younger and healthier school safety chief.
Fadzen alleges the district violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, and the Civil Rights acts of 1964 and 1991. He seeks reinstatement to his previous position, compensation for lost wages, commissions and benefits.
