PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. — A former security director at St. Luke’s Hospital and his alleged co-conspirator pleaded not guilty Thursday to running a tuition reimbursement scam.
Robert Fulper and Bruce Sutton, a former security officer, are accused of arranging to receive reimbursement checks from the hospital from 2007 to 2009, when it was Warren Hospital, The Express-Times reports. Sutton pretended to take work-related classes and kept $300 of the reimbursement check and gave the rest to Fulper, who provided the hospital with the necessary paperwork to show the courses were finished, according to court documents.
The men declined an offer of probation and a reduction of the third-degree theft charges to disorderly person charges in exchange for guilty pleas.
