FLORENCE, S.C. — Damon Moody, 30, a former Francis Marion University (FMU) police officer, was arrested Friday for allegedly pointing weapons at two individuals. He now faces three counts of each of pointing and presenting firearms at a person and second degree assault/assault and battery charges.
The incident occurred in mid-June at Moody’s residence. He fired off a gun when two uninvited men came into his yard, reports SCnow.com. All three then got into a physical altercation. Moody, then left the scene, returning with a dog on a leash and a firearm that had a laser.
The officer was fired July 3 from FMU. He had been a police officer for five years before his arrest.
