Following several fights that left quite a few people injured during a football game between Booker T. Washington High School and East Central High School, Tulsa Public Schools (TPS) has announced several security changes for football games throughout the district, reports KJRH.com.
More TPS officers and Tulsa Police Department officers will be on duty at all games. All high school students must show valid, current identification to purchase tickets at the gate. Adults with a valid ID must accompany younger students.
Additionally, if spectators should leave the stadium during the game and return, they must present valid identification and purchase a second ticket. At the start of the third quarter, all gates will be closed, and no one will be allowed to enter the stadium.
In an effort to pay for the added security, ticket prices have increased from $5 to $6.
The changes were prompted by a Sept. 11 game in which a 14-year-old girl, a 17-year-old boy and a 51-year-old man were taken to the hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries, according to the news outlet. Six others were treated at the scene.
