Football Players Allegedly Beat 4 Colo. Students

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Four students from Colorado State University, Fort Collins claim they were beaten by university football players and other students during a party this past Friday.

John ‘JD’ Haley and Donny Gocha suffered bruises, black eyes and chipped teeth, The Coloradoan reports. Two other students suffered lesser injuries. The fight started after men in an SUV yelled a homophobic insult while driving past the victims. Gocha responded with the same insult, and the SUV stopped and the occupants got out and allegedly began beating him.

Without stating why, CSU football Coach Jim McElwain suspended three student-athletes for violation of team rules: junior defensive end Nordly Capi, junior linebacker Mike Orakpo and junior defensive end Colton Paulhus. McElwain told reporters not to contact football players without his permission.
