Food Fight Turns in Melee at Minn. High School

MINNEAPOLIS — Between 200 to 300 students were involved in a melee Thursday at South High School here. Police were forced to use chemical spray to break up the brawl.

Four people were injured during the 15-minute scuffle, which started out as a food fight during the lunch period, the Associated Press reports. No weapons were used, although students threw food, plates and bottles at school staff and police. Police sprayed Mace to stop the pandemonium.

The school was placed on lockdown after the fight. No arrests were made; however, police plan to look at surveillance footage for more details about the incident.
