Florida University May Purchase Stun Guns

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Police Chief Bill Ferrell is considering arming FAU officers with TASERs.

This is in response to the school’s first shooting by campus police, which occurred earlier this week . Officer Mary Douglas shot a student in the hand and chest after he bashed the windshields and windows of cars, smashed a stop sign and went after Douglas.

The 21-year-old junior, Zachary Carroll, is in fair condition at a local hospital.

According to the Miami Herald, the previous police chief had discussed equipping officers with stun guns but did not purchase the weapons.
