TAMPA, Fla. – A middle school principal was arrested after an undercover officer sold him crack cocaine on campus.

Anthony Giancola, 40, told reporters he was “very sorry” after being arrested for allegedly purchasing $20 of the illegal substance in his principal’s office from an undercover officer. Police say he first experimented with the drug last December and became immediately addicted. Investigating whether he made more purchases on campus, police believe Giancola spent hundreds of dollars a day on his drug habit.

Referred to by students and school district officials as “a good guy,” Giancola could face as much as three years prison time if convicted.
