SANFORD, Fla. – Central Florida Regional Hospital has fixed all the problems that allowed for a day-old infant to be abducted from the facility, according to a report released by the Agency for Health Care Administration June 6.
On March 28, Jennifer Latham dressed as a hospital employee and kidnapped a newborn infant to pass off as her own. State inspectors examined the hospital four days after the abduction and discovered several security problems. The hospital immediately began updating its security.
On May 19, state inspectors checked the hospital and determined all the deficiencies that led to the abduction had been corrected. The hospital may still be fined; however, it is unclear as to how much the hospital will have to pay.
