OCALA, Fla. – In his annual staffing plan for Marion County Public Schools, Superintendent Jim Yancey proposed the addition of a security guard to every elementary school to guard access.
Yancey envisions the security guards monitoring campus visitors, routing them to the main office. The district is already in the process of planning fencing to surround campuses to limit entry points.
Yancey’s staffing plan is only considered a wish list of personnel additions the School Board will consider in its budget process for the coming school year. If the additional security guards make the final budget, they will be in place for the start of the 2007-08 school year in September.
