Florida Boy Involved in School Shooting Dies

LAKEWORTH, Fla. – The Florida teenager shot by a SWAT team member Jan. 13 has died. Officials say Christopher Penley, 15, was pronounced dead Jan. 15.

Police say the boy brought what they believed to be a firearm, which was later determined to be a pellet gun, to Milwee Middle School in his backpack. During an altercation in class, he briefly held another student hostage. He then left the classroom and ran through the campus with his gun.

Police chased Penley into a restroom where at one point, deputies say, he held the gun to his neck. As police tried to talk with the student, he again raised his gun. The SWAT team member then shot the boy.
