Several University of Florida students have been assaulted and robbed while walking on streets near campus on Friday and Saturday nights. The college-age victims had been drinking before they were attacked, reported The Gainesville Sun.
According to police, eight strong-arm robberies took place in the campus area and downtown between May 2 and May 24.
Gainesville Police have increased patrols, conducted stakeouts and notified the community in an effort to stop the attacks. University Police are considering extending a nighttime escort program off campus.
