PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter signed an order on August 8 reducing curfews to 9 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays for people under the age of 18. The measure is meant to prevent the “flash mob” attacks that have recently plagued the city.
In recent weeks, there have been several assaults by teens on residents, CNN reports. These attacks, or “flash mobs”, are organized via E-mail and social media Web sites.
In addition to the curfew change, the city will also expand recreation center hours.
