To address the recent increase in anti-Semitic incidents in Florida, lawmakers in the state passed a measure earlier this year that created a $645,000 grant for 35 private Jewish day schools to improve security at their facilities.
The schools will use the grant to pay for security cameras, bulletproof glass and alarms, reports local10.com. The money will also pay for security officers.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott says he also wants lawmakers to provide more security funding for public schools and learning facilities at mosques in the state.
Campus Safety previously reported that the rate of hate crimes in the United States increased 6.8 percent in 2015. The FBI’s annual crime report found that in 2015, Jewish people experienced a nine percent increase compared to 2014. Muslims experienced at 67 percent increase in hate crimes compared to the previous year.
