FIU Stabbing Suspect Turns Self In

A 22-year-old has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder for the March 25 stabbing of a Florida International University (FIU) football player.

Kendall Berry, 22, was allegedly stabbed to death by Quentin Wyche during a verbal dispute outside the university’s student recreation center, reports the Associated Press.Wyche, who attended training camp with the victim, turned himself into police on March 26. He is being held without bond.

Due to the incident, security at FIU was increased, and grief assistance was available for students. Additionally, students living in the residence halls were told to keep their doors locked. All people at the university were offered protective escorting.

The day after the incident, classes and other events took place as scheduled; however, the student recreation center was closed until noon.
