MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – A West Virginia University Delta Tau Delta fraternity house was closed May 30 for minor fire code violations.
The violations include holes in the walls, broken exit signs, and a fire alarm system that isn’t up to code. The fraternity was notified of the violations April 30 and had 30 days to make the appropriate repairs. A group of alumni who own the home, however, were not able to come up with the $5,000 it would cost to fix the building.
Because of this, another alumnus has stepped in and agreed to purchase the home, paying for the upgrades. The home should be open by the fall.
