ATHENS, Ohio — A fire at a heating plant at Ohio University has caused $300,000 worth of damage and knocked out power to parts of the campus.
The blaze started around 8:30 p.m. on Monday and lasted for roughly three hours before firefighters were able to stop it, Woub News reports.
Although the exact cause of the fire isn’t entirely clear, university preliminary results show a main chilled water valve failed to reopen, causing a pump to overheat and spark a small explosion and fire.
