FBI Opens Extortion Investigation of Rutgers Basketball Whistleblower
The FBI is investigating Eric Murdock, the former employee of Rutgers’ basketball player development program. He is suspected of trying to extort the school before making videos of an ex-coach verbally and physically abusing players, reports the Associated Press.
Murdock left his job last year and then provided a video to the school and ESPN showing Rutgers University men’s basketball coach Mike Rice kicking and shoving players, throwing balls at them and calling them gay slurs. Rice was fired last week.
Murdock has filed a whistleblower lawsuit against the university, saying he was fired trying to expose Rice’s behavior.
