NEW YORK – The family of the 49-year-old woman who died on camera after she collapsed and was left unattended for an hour at King’s County Hospital psychiatric emergency waiting room is suing the facility for $25 million dollars, according to MSNBC.
On June 19, Esmin Green collapsed face down to the floor to her death as a surveillance camera captured the event. Not one attendant checked on her for nearly an hour. By the time the medical staff approached her, she was already deceased.
Officials at the hospital believe the family deserves to be compensated for the mishap. They said they have been cooperating with all investigations.
Additionally, since Green’s death, the hospital is seeking to hire new staff and implement new procedures to prevent a similar incident from occurring.
