Family Dispute Results in Deadly Shooting at Ga. Hospital

AUGUSTA, Ga. — An 85-year-old faces murder charges after shooting a family member on the seventh floor of University Hospital on Tuesday.

The suspect, Charles Gorrell, was visiting his wife who was there for treatment when he shot her nephew, 59-year-old Tim Grooms, reports WJBF.com. Grooms died with at least two gunshot wounds to the upper body. The suspect and victim had a long-standing dispute over family matters. The patient in the room was not injured.

Hospital officials locked down the facility for a short amount of time after the incident.
