Officials have uncovered falsified records that allegedly covered up abuse at Kings County Hospital. The hospital drew national attention that spurred hospital reforms after psychiatric patient Esmin Green died on the hospital’s waiting room floor.
The false records were found when investigators probed a case involving a high-risk patient who had been raped at the hospital by another patient, reported the Daily News. The male patient had been involved in a previous sex assault.
During the investigation, officials debunked hospital records identifying the locations of both patients before and during the attack. However, HHC officials said the investigation did not reveal an intentional action to cover up information.
Last week, an 18-year-old autistic man was allegedly molested by another patient in the hospital’s psych ward. Security video, documents and interviews contradicted records claiming the victim was being monitored, according to news reports.
