Shawnee, Kansas – A police officer from the Overland Park Police Department who admitted to stealing women’s underwear while working and was convicted of repeatedly taking video of a woman in the shower without her permission, worked as an unarmed security officer for AdventHealth after he was fired from the police department.

Jared Kendrick, 37, worked security at the hospital for 16 months, from the beginning of November 2020 until the third week of February 2022. Only eight days after being hired, he was arrested for felony breach of privacy, reports KansasCity.com.

Kendrick appears to have been able to avoid detection by the hospital’s background screening program because he was hired before he was arrested. AdventHealth said it conducts background checks on all of its employees before hiring them.

About three months before being hired as a security officer at AdventHealth, Kendrick was fired by Overland Park PD. He pleaded guilty in April 2021, and his law enforcement certification was revoked soon after that, reports KSHB. He also admitted to other lewd acts against female police officers at the  department where he formerly worked, as well as taking a pair of women’s underwear from a home while he was responding to a call.
