A woman is in stable condition after she was shot in the Tucson Medical Center’s parking garage Aug. 30.
The 25-year-old medical center employee had just finished a shift and was putting away personal items in her car when a man tapped her on the shoulder and shot her, reports Tucson.com.
The shooter ran from the scene and Tucson police responded within minutes. The hospital was placed on lockdown around 9 p.m. and officers escorted people to their vehicles in the parking garage for the rest of the night.

Tucson Medical Center Vice President Julia Strange says a preliminary investigation is underway and hospital surveillance cameras captured the incident, which hospital officials believe is isolated.
“We have been very transparent and proactive about what we know and what we can do to improve safety,” Strange says.
Strange described the garage where the incident occurred as well-lit and “typically very safe.” Strange also says the hospital plans to increase the visibility of hospital security staff and use officers to escort people to their cars to improve safety.
The suspect is described as between 20 and 30 years old, around five foot six and weighing 165 pounds. Police are encouraging anyone with information on the shooting to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
The victim is being treated at another hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
