Employee Accused of Selling Patient Info to Attorneys, Chiropractors
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — A former Florida Hospital Celebration employee was arrested in connection with a majority security breach following a 10-month investigation by the FBI.
Dale Monroe is accused of accessing more than 700,000 patient records over two years and then selling them while working in the emergency intake area, wftv.com reports. Munroe allegedly took information mostly from car accident victims and sold that information to chiropractors and attorneys.
The patients whose information was sold received a call from an attorney or chiropractor within a week. The breach was discovered after a hospital employee who knew the records shouldn’t be public received a phone call.
