DURHAM, N.C. – A fire extensively damaged a research laboratory at Duke University on Sept. 11.
Although the fired burned freezers containing some low-level radioactive materials, school officials say there is no evidence that any radioactivity or biological agents were released. Additionally, no one was injured in the blaze.
The lab will remain closed until the morning of Sept. 12 so the Nanaline H. Duke building’s mechanical and environmental systems can be checked.
