ROANOKE, Va. – The U.S. Department of Education has awarded a $630,000 grant to Roanoke schools to help improve school safety.
Administrators will use a fraction of the money to hire school security consultant Kenneth Trump to figure out what needs to be done to prepare schools for potential emergencies. Additionally, the money will be used to buy equipment and train employees.
Purchases of equipment will be determined based on Trump’s recommendations, according to Roanoke officials.
