LONGVIEW, Wash. — The Longview School District is spending $166,700 through its capital projects levy and a matching federal grant to purchase 89 new security cameras and two laptop computers.
The new equipment will allow Longview police to monitor school grounds from off-campus, The Daily News reports. Sandy Catt, spokeswoman for Longview Schools, said it was still unclear whether the new cameras will be compatible with the existing school cameras.
According to the preliminary plan, 35 cameras will be placed at Mark Morris High School; 37 at R.A. Long High School; and 17 at Olympic, Northlake, Kessler, Columbia Heights and Mint Valley elementary schools.
