PALM BEACH, Fla. – A student who stood up to bullies and then was beaten by them is suing his local district for not following its own anti-bullying policy.
The incident occurred in January 2009 and involved Louis Toth, who at the time was an 11th grader at Royal Palm Beach Community High School, reports the SunSentinel. The suit claims that while riding a school bus, approximately six students bullied and stole the phone of another student. The driver told the alleged bullies and victim, along with Toth, to get off the bus. After the students exited the bus at Toth’s designated bus stop, the driver left the scene without intervening. When the fighting continued, the teen attempted to break up the scuffle. He was then attacked by several students.
Toth’s lawsuit is claiming the bus driver didn’t report any of the students involved in the incident.
