MUNCIE, Ind. — Dozens of security cameras have been installed at Wilson and Northside middle schools. The installation is part of the district’s Action Plan for Security Enhancement, developed last year.
The security plan, implemented in March, was in response to criticism over the district’s handling of a report that a 16-year-old student had been raped in a school restroom at Central High School, Pal-item.com reports.
The school had also been plagued by bomb threats, which “virtually stopped” once the cameras were installed, according to Brian Lipscomb, security chief for Muncie Community Schools.
