Delivery Man Shot, Killed at Tennessee State

Published: November 1, 2005

NASHVILLE, Tenn., A Chinese food delivery man was shot and killed Nov. 1 as he was leaving a Tennessee State University (TSU) dormitory. Ji Hong Peng, 37, was shot twice while being robbed by two men. The suspects took Peng’s car and money and remain at large.

TSU is working with Nashville police to apprehend the suspects, although the two men left few clues. Police believe the suspects came from off campus and are not students.

As a result of the shooting, TSU is increasing security measures, including holding crime prevention meetings at student residence halls; providing counseling for affected students; providing security checkpoints to monitor pedestrian and vehicle traffic; locking security gates to limit unauthorized access; and identifying areas needing additional lighting, gates or curbs.
