NEW YORK — Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo plans to allow limited use of marijuana by those who are seriously ill.
Although the governor has long resisted legalizing medical marijuana, he told the New York Times that he would announce an executive action this week that would allow 20 hospitals across the state to prescribe the drug for diseases that meet standards that will be determined by the state’s department of health. Those diseases might include cancer and glaucoma.
Previously, Cuomo was opposed to legalizing the drug.
