MONTEREY, Calif. – An on-campus domestic dispute at California Statue University Monterey Bay (CSUMB) turned deadly Dec. 21.
Christopher Roper, 40, died after an altercation with his wife, Macheel Roper, 39, who is a student at CSUMB. The husband died of a stab wound to the chest, while Macheel’s face sustained injuries. She has been charged with murder.
The couple lived in a campus student housing complex, and according to a neighbor, had a history of arguments. No one, however, suspected the fights would escalate to murder. The Roper’s two children, a 12-year-old boy and six-year-old girl, are currently in the custody of their grandmother.
This is the first homicide in CSUMB’s 13-year history.
