MADISON, Wis. – Damage to a three-story wooden fraternity house as a result of a massive fire at the University of Wisconsin Madison is estimated for $750,000.

Around 11:41 p.m. May 13, a Madison police officer contacted the fire department after she noticed a glow in the back of the house, which she thought was from a grill. After investigating the situation, the officer realized the house was on fire.

The blaze, which was put out in about three hours, caused 25 members of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity to spend the evening/early morning on a public bus. The students were studying for finals when the fire struck.
