Correction to “College Student Loan Practices Spark Federal Inquiry”

Published: June 8, 2007

LOS ANGELES – Campus Safety magazine issues the following correction regarding its “College Student Loan Practices Spark Federal Inquiry” article, which ran June 8 on its Web site:

According to Julie S. McWilliams, news officer, Office of University Communications for the University of Pennsylvania, Walter Cathie does not work at the school. “Penn made a settlement with students and no Penn staff were accused as your story indicates, nor did any resign or were let go,” says McWilliams.

Widener University’s Assistant Vice President for Finance Walt Cathie, however, was placed on administrative leave as a result of the investigation and has now retired.

Campus Safety apologizes for the error and any confusion or difficulties it may have caused.
