GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Campus police who Tasered a student on the University of Florida campus have been cleared of any wrongdoing.
Police used a stun gun on Andrew Meyer when he refused to stop asking questions to Sen. John Kerry. The incident was videotaped and placed on the popular YouTube Web site.
University of Florida President Bernie Machen released a 17-page executive summary of the report stating that the officers acted appropriately to the situation and well within the state laws.
The officers, who were on paid administrative leave awaiting the outcome of the investigation, were reinstated Oct. 24.
Meyer, on the other hand, was charged for disturbing the peace and resisting an officer. The State Attorney’s Office has not determined whether to file official charges against him.
