WASHINGTON – The COPS Office has announced the availability of funding under the Community Policing Development Grant Program (CPD 2007).
According to an announcement just released by the agency, under this program, the COPS Office will be seeking applications to fund a variety of initiatives designed to advance the practice of community policing nationwide.
Proposed projects should be of national relevance and not solely for the benefit of one or a select number of law enforcement agencies. The solicitation should be of particular interest to public governmental agencies, profit and non-profit institutions, educational institutions, community groups, and faith-based organizations.
Specific topic areas applicants will be eligible to apply under are:
- Institutionalizing Community Policing
- Tribal Policing
- Homeland Security
- Technology
- Recruitment and Hiring
- Ethics and Integrity
- Violent Crime/Gangs
- School and Campus Safety
- Methamphetamine Training and Technical Assistance
- On-line Community Policing Self-Assessment Tool
- Open/other topics
Elligible applicants include:
- County governments
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
- Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Private institutions of higher education
- Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
- Individuals
- Special district governments
- State governments
- Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- City or township governments
- For profit organizations other than small businesses
