LOS ANGELES — Contemporary Services Corporation (CSC), a crowd management and event security provider, has renewed its contract with the University of Southern California (USC) to provide crowd management and security services throughout the USC campus and perimeter until 2016.
The three-year agreement continues in partnership with USC’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) and includes access control services as well as ambassador services, which CSC has provided since 2009.
Throughout the past four years, CSC’s security ambassadors have maintained a presence around the USC campus 16 hours per day, six days per week during the nine-month academic year. CSC’s security ambassadors have proven to be an effective deterrent and have created a safer environment on the USC campus and in the surrounding areas for students, faculty, and the residents of South Los Angeles. In addition to ambassador services, CSC also recently began providing USC with access control services at designated campus entry points. As part of this service, CSC also deploys a team assigned to designated areas inside the campus to provide a layer of security during lock-down and to serve as an extension of DPS. Lockdown hours on the USC campus are from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m., during which time only students, staff, and registered guests are granted campus access.
CSC’s access control and ambassador services are provided under the direction of USC DPS Chief John Thomas and Deputy Chief John Adams. Chief Thomas stated, “CSC’s continued work in the University of Southern California Ambassador Program and the University’s Perimeter Access Program have resulted in a more secure and safer environment for students, staff and guests in and around the University Community and campus. Their efforts working together with USC’s Department of Public Safety Officers and LAPD have added an additional layer of safety and security. The efforts by CSC’s dedicated and friendly staff, working long and late night hours are truly appreciated by our students, their parents, staff and me.”
