Conn. District Seeks More Than $850K for Security Enhancements

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. — Officials for the Ridgefield Public School District have requested $851,113 from the state Board of Education to upgrade security district-wide.

The majority of the requested funds — $374,207 — will cover access control, including interior door lock. The district is also looking to spend $325,906 on security cameras, in which police could access surveillance footage in an emergency. Additionally, officials expect to spend $151,000 on a mass notification system, the Ridgefield Daily Voice reports.

The Board of Education will vote on the matter on June 24.
