Computer Server Stolen from University of Colorado at Boulder

Published: November 26, 2006

BOULDER, Colo. – At the University of Colorado (CU) at Boulder, someone stole a computer server being used by graduate students for research purposes.

The server, an Aspen System Dual 2.66 GHz unit, was taken from CU’s Engineering Center the morning of Nov. 18. An electrical engineering professor said the content stored in the server – years of research data – would likely not be useful to anyone other than the center’s graduate students.

Campus police are collaborating with Boulder police in investigating the theft. Individuals are encouraged to come forward and contact police at (303) 492-6666 if they have any information regarding the theft.

A more serious theft occurred spring quarter, when a laptop containing the personal information of 93,000 students disappeared from the Metropolitan State College campus in Denver.
