TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A new case of hazing at Florida A&M University (FAMU) is under investigation. The case relates to a spring 2011 initiation ceremony involving the university chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi.
The incident was reported in late November and then turned over to campus police, the Associated Press reports. Tallahassee police cannot provide details at this time.
On Jan. 31, FAMU president James Ammons announced that all recruitment and initiation activities by clubs and organizations will be suspended until fall 2012, My Fox reports. A summer band camp was also canceled.
The university’s Board of Trustees has been meeting weekly to receive updates on an investigation into the hazing death of drum major Robert Champion which took place last fall.
