CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Metropolitan School District announced on March 11 a new three-phase safety plan that includes the installation of cameras, X-ray machines, buzzers and more manpower at all K-12 schools.
The first phase, which involved setting up metal detectors at all the district’s high schools, is already complete, according to district administrators.
Other plans include installing as many as 2,000 cameras that are constantly running throughout the district. This will allow administrators to view the cameras over the network with a few keystrokes.
Additionally, the $9 million upgrade on security will include a K-9 officer.
