City Postpones Fire-Sprinkler Law For Missouri "Greeks"

COLUMBIA. Mo.
Published: March 22, 2009

The Columbia City Council has unanimously voted to make fire sprinklers mandatory in all fraternity and sorority houses at the University of Missouri (MU). However, the law will not come into effect until 2016, according to the Associated Press.

The later date was selected in an effort to allow the houses more time to comply and raise installation funds. Originally, the fraternities and sororities were given until December 2012 to comply.
