BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Two children of former Cincinnati Bengals player David Lee “Deacon” Turner were arraigned on multiple charges after a confrontation in the parking lot of Kern Medical Center. Turner, who was shot to death by Kern County deputies last weekend, was pronounced dead at the hospital prior to the confrontation.
While the family members were gathered outside the hospital, someone told security officers there was a gun in the parking lot, NFL.com Wire reports. Law enforcement was called, and the first deputy to arrive was “rushed” by members of the Turner family, according to hospital CEO Paul Hensler.
Ahmod Turner, 25, and Whittney Turner, 24, were arrested and arraigned on charges including making criminal threats and participation in a criminal street gang, NBC Sports reports. The Turner family says no threats were made.
David Turner was shot and killed by police officers in the presence of two of his younger children.
