A seven-year-old boy was killed Jan. 7 when a fold-down lunch table attached to the wall in the gym at Berkley Street Elementary School fell open, striking him in the head and pinning him under the table.

Brendan Jordan was playing with a soccer ball during recreational soccer practice. An off-duty officer who was coaching the team performed CPR until emergency responders arrived, CBS News reports.

Police are still investigating whether the boy was touching the table before it fell open from where it was recessed into the gym wall.
